令人期待的新学期再次因为疫情的变化而面临着不确定性。荟同师生们并未如设想中那般重逢在美丽的校园,开启又一个崭新的学年,而是暂时投入到了一段时间的线上教学当中,与老朋友、新同学“云”相聚。不过,物理距离的阻隔并不疏远心的温度。在各科老师认真授课的同时,我们看到荟同独特的导师制也从学期伊始,就及时、悉心地陪伴着每一位同学,为他们提供全方位支持。

We started the new semester with two weeks of uncertainty because of the sudden outbreak. Teachers and students met with old and new friends through screens. However, physical distance was not a barrier to building good relationships. Our advisory system has been fully implemented since the beginning of this school year. We've been providing a full range of support to the students.

荟同学校设立导师制的目的,不仅限于帮助学生获得学术成绩的提高,更关注于助力学生发展学术能力之外的多种技能,让他们能在学术、社交情感、行为习惯等领域获得全面发展。学校将为每一位导师提供丰富的资料,让他们可以从中选取与学校社会情感教育月度主题、校园活动、新闻话题等相符的内容,为不同年龄段的学生定制导师制活动,使其与学术活动相辅相成,提供全面协调的成长体验。

The goal of our Advisory Programme is to help students improve their academic performance and help them with other attainments, such as social-emotional skills and good behavior. The school provides the advisors with a wealth of resources to select appropriate materials and customize advisor programs for students of different ages. These programs are closely connected with the student's lessons and timely topics such as monthly themes of the school's social-emotional education, ongoing events on campus, and current news.

荟同心理与道法组长张恬雨老师介绍,学校在9月的导师小组主题是「新开始」。在这个主题下,导师们将和大家畅聊返校的近况,思考今年有什么东西对自己来说是“新”的,探讨“变化”是不是一件好的事情。我们还鼓励学生们关注 “希望与梦想”,思索一条实现它们的路径。而在共同建立校园安全与教室常规的共识后,分享“关于我”的点点滴滴,对于导师小组来说同样是一个重要话题。

According to Ms. Tianyu Zhang, Head of Huitong SEL and Ethics Department, the theme of this month's advisory program is "New Beginnings". Advisors will talk to their students about how they feel after returning to school and ask them to consider " whether CHANGE is a good thing". Advisors will also encourage students to focus on "Goals and Dreams" and to think about their own paths to achieve their dreams. Another important topic at this stage is building consensus on campus safety and classroom rules. After this, everyone can share details about themselves and get to know each other. Such activities will bring students the courage to take on new challenges.

相信在学期伊始,这个主题对于每个学生来说都意义非凡,因为它帮助孩子们意识到新学年将为生活带来的改变,感受个人与团体的和谐共处,充满希望和勇气去迎接未来。

We believe this theme is very meaningful for every student at the beginning of the semester because it helps children realize the changes the new school year will bring to their lives, feel the harmony between individuals and groups, and be filled with hope and courage for the future.

每两周进行的一对一单独对话,也是导师项目的一个重要组成部分。它为师生建立起了一个可以安全开启私人对话的空间,无论是学业挑战、生活困惑或是个人成长的话题,导师们都将悉心聆听,指导学生理解他们的经历,做学生成长最坚强的后盾。

Students will have bi-weekly one-on-one conversations with their advisers. Such sessions are essential parts of the advisor system. This period allows students to discuss their progress and questions in different dimensions of their growth in a safe environment. Advisors will listen patiently, use their expertise and experience to guide students in understanding what they are going through, and provide all-around support.

荟同老师们亦从导师制当中获得了对于教师这一角色更多的思考和洞察。自创校以来就担任学生导师的操颖老师说,作为一名90 后老师,她会从学生喜欢的事物或者话题入手,让孩子觉得与老师之间交流是没有代沟的。她会从孩子的角度出发帮助孩子分析问题。大部分孩子听完分析后会觉得老师懂自己,也会把老师当”自己人”,从而更信任老师,也更愿意与老师分享自己的生活。有时候担任导师还要跳出老师的角色——我是老师,更是学生的朋友,抱着大家一起成长的心态,以平等的姿态去与学生对话。她在担任导师期间,听过许多孩子分享的班级里的八卦、学业及友情、自己的心事、家里和父母兄弟姐妹的相处、一切的喜怒哀乐……在她眼中,孩子的信任,让我可以从多个视角来看孩子,参与孩子的生活,“这种情感上的连接是我觉得导师制最美好的地方。”

Our teachers also gain more insight into the role of teachers through advisory time. Ms. Candice Cao, a sixth-grade teacher who has been an advisor since the school was founded, said that as a post-90s teacher, she usually starts with topics that her students like so that the children feel that there is no generation gap between them and the teacher. She helps children analyze problems from their point of view. Most children will think the teacher understands them and will become more willing to share their lives with her. Sometimes, as an advisor, the teacher has to go beyond the role of an advisor - I am a teacher, but also a friend of the students, with the mindset that we grow together and talk to them on an equal footing. During her advisory time, she has listened to many children share their classes, academics, friendships, how they get along with their parents and siblings, and all their joys and sorrows …… In her eyes, the children's trust allows her to see them from multiple perspectives and participate in their daily lives, "this emotional connection is what I find most beautiful about advisory time."

我们期待这种师生之间的信任和相互尊重可以促使学生自主能动性的增长,帮助他们发展潜能,最终让每一位导师成为全学校最了解这个孩子的人,亦成为孩子们在学校里最信任的大人。

Huitong expect that this foundation of trust and mutual respect enables students to expand their agency and grow toward their potential. Every personalized advisor will be the person in the school who knows the student best and the adult the child trusts the most.
